Rev. Brenda L. Williams is the 4th child of 8 children born to the late Leon Offer, Jr (CSM US Army Ret.) and the late Veola G. (Thomas) Offer. She was born at Womack Army Hospital, Fort Bragg, NC and grew up in Fayetteville, NC. She is married to the love of her life, Victor M. Williams (MSG US Army Ret.) From their union they have a son Jonathan C. Williams and two grandsons, Xayden and Jayden.
She graduated from 71st Senior High School, Fayetteville, NC; Fayetteville State University, Fayetteville, NC (BS in Secondary Math Education – (Magna Cum Laude, Alpha Kappa Mu Honor Society, Math Tutor and Teacher Assistant for Math Department Chairperson – Dr. Leo Edwards); and from The Interdenominational Theological Center in Atlanta, GA (Master of Divinity- Phillips School of Theology, Theta Phi Honor Society). As an army wife, she traveled with her husband around the world (Germany, England, France, Italy, Spain, Greece, Yugoslavia, Hawaii, …)
She retired after teaching Middle School and High Mathematics for 35 years in the following places: Fayetteville, North Carolina; Heidelberg, West Germany; Greenville, Mississippi; Honolulu, Hawaii and Anniston, Alabama. She was an instructor for US soldiers at Honolulu Pacific University in Honolulu, Hawaii. Rev. Williams taught Old Testament and New Testament Survey for The Academy of Public Theology (National Institute of Human Development) on the campus of Miles College, under the leadership of Bishop Teresa Snorton.
She loved the Lord at an early age and joined Mannheim Church of Christ while stationed in West Germany. She later joined St. Paul CME Church in Jacksonville, Alabama. She accepted her call to preach in 2001 in Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri while attending her husband’s retirement. She was licensed as a local preacher at St. Paul CME Church in Jacksonville, AL under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Janice Blackmon Smith.
She was admitted on trial, ordained as a Deacon and later an Elder under the leadership of Bishop Lawrence L. Reddick III, as well as being admitted into full connection in the CME Church. She began serving as a pastor in 2005 at Lane Chapel (Waldo), Talladega, AL; and she served at the following churches: Smith Tabernacle, Anniston; Spring Hill, Munford; Players Chapel, Anniston; New Hope, Bynum; and currently she serves at Jacobs Chapel, Pell City for the past five years.
She loves the Lord, she loves preaching and teaching the Word, and she loves serving God’s people. Her favorite scripture is I John 4:7-8. “God is Love.”
The Lord called her to start Broken For Jesus Ministry to empower woman to serve their God given purpose.
